Friday Feature: Fingerless Gloves
I had a new love this Fall...fingerless gloves. They are so darn cute. And perfect for those morning walks when it was chilly but not cold & frozen...like now :P
This first pair is from Viola Vintage. Their specialty is "vintage inspired custom made wedding and bridesmaid dresses, 1940s wiggle dresses and 1950s dresses in natural fabrics, silks, cottons, linens and wool mixes." I got lucky and nabbed these a while back. I just love them!
Then we have these upcycled cashmere beauties from Cashmere Deja vu. There are still some arm warmers available in her shop if you are looking for some of your own.
You know I could not resist these lovely Jayne inspired wrist warmers from Whitaker Knits.
I even got my son a pair to match his Jayne hat from Ma Cobb's Hat Shoppe :)

Even now they rock when going out. I can wear them indoors to stay a touch warmer while still having use of my fingers. And looking super cute!

My Son Has Picked Up My Slack
I have not been active on the creative ends of things. I have been creative in directing others. Redoing a house can do that. Our kitchen cabinets are now in, our old floors are in the midst of being yanked out and the walls will be fixed and painted before the new pretty floors go in. And since it is the whole main level...and it is a bungalow...I have no more sew space at the moment.
Good thing my son has been duct taping things again so I have something to show off. I have shown his jacket - which is now sleeveless - his pants, his belt, his hat and his flowers. Now - shoes.
Yes, shoes. He took apart his old Converse for the template.
It even has his own logo...
And for the whole duct tape look....

My Son and Duct Tape
Manly crafting at it's finest. I'd say it's just a guy thing...but duct tape rocks! If I were to be stranded on an island, I would definitely want some. Although, if it were a warm island I may sweat too much in his shirt. Yes, I said shirt. Of duct tape. It even has a zipper.
Where did he get the notion to make one? No clue. I am not even sure if he knows. It does have some tweaking to be done...he is already planning the next one. He has allowed himself the help of his mom who had reminded him that she may know a thing or two about constructing a pattern :P He did do an awesome job for winging it though I must say.

And because he found purple plaid duct tape and just couldn't wait to use it....a belt. Which he has worn the past few days. It seems to hold up quite nicely. Looks cute too. Okay, not cute...he's a 14 year old boy, let's call it ruggedly chic.

September Challenge Day 29
I had fun with this one. It is a chef's hat. My niece loves playing with her kitchen set, so I thought it would be perfect for her.
I overlapped the band, kept it "open" and added velcro for adjustability. That's why it almost fits my son in the pics but should also fit her little head. I hope.

I will be bringing down with me when I go to visit this weekend. Which reminds me...my last Craft-a-Day post for September will most likely not be until October something - probably the 5th. It will be strange to be out of town without my boys....they have too much with school & practices & games to go down also. Besides - 10 hours in the car with little dude & I may go crazy...he's a chatterbox.
See you in October! :)
